Microsoft, npm, & Google strongly recommend using a NVM to install Node.js and npm. It’s not recommend using a Node installer, since the Node installation process installs npm in a directory with local permissions and can cause permissions errors when you run npm packages globally. You must install Node.js and the npm using either a NVM or a Node installer. JavaScript is the only language that Node.js supports natively, but many compile-to-JS languages are available. As a result, Node.js applications can be written in CoffeeScript, Dart, TypeScript, ClojureScript and others. Both, Node.js and Web Browser (like Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge etc) runs on the Google’s V8 JavaScript engine.
